While
Lane Cove Cricket Club did not win any of the premier’s awards at the Annual
Shires Premier’s Dinner of 2005 on
Friday 13th May at the Epping Club, the club was certainly one of the
better acknowledged on the night.
Not
only did John F Dettman Snr become a legend of Shires Cricket, but also Damian
Naughton was awarded the Frank Gray Player of The Year award (for players under
24 years of age), on top of his taking out the 1st Grade Captain of
the Year Award-a remarkable achievement for a
22yo!
In
front of a crowd of about 280 people Damian did himself and the Club credit as
he accepted the awards as did Peter “Henry” Fellows who accepted J.Dettman’s
Award on the family’s behalf.
It
was a great night to be a
Covie!
